On October 29th 2012, the Period 2 biology class went to Eaton Canyon. My partner for this trip was Robert. Our trip began at La Salle High School, where we got on the bus for a 5 minute drive. When we arrived at Eaton Canyon, we followed Ms. Mullen so Robert could get a picture of poison ivy. Then we Followed Isabella and Marissa for a few minutes. Then Robert and I started to trail behind Spencer and Brandon for a while. They walked up about 5 minutes further up towards the water tank than we did. On our way up, we say alot of cactus, poison ivy, and at one point we heard a woodpecker. Then Carlos and Alex joined us at our location where we decided to set up our camp. For the next 30 minutes, we were dead silent so that we could try to get a few animals to come back out. A bunny found the courage to come out of hiding while we were quiet. At about 12:30, we started to head back to the bus.
Site Description
We set up in a very shady area where we could see a view of the canyon. The ground was made up of dirt with rocks. There were several ants under the rocks. There were also many trees that made the whole area shady. We saw a small brown bunny in a field of bushes, but it ran away when he saw us. There were alot of feathers on a small dirt mountain, meaning that there are alot of birds in that area. There were also many holes around the area ( possibly by bunnies). We also heard a wood pecker nearby pecking on a tree.
